The Gregory Peck Award: for Excellence in the Art of Film
In cooperation with Gregory Peck’s family, the festival is proud to present this trophy. Since 2008 this Award has been given ”for excellence in the Art of Film” to a national or international working in cinema.
Gregory Peck’s father spent his childhood years in Minard, Dingle, and when Gregory himself came to Dingle it always was with a sense of coming home. Up to this day his family share in that love for Dingle.

Gregory Peck’s family receive the Award in 2016.
The Trophy
The design of The Trophy is based on The Aglish Pillar stone dating from the 5th-6th century. The original is now housed in The National Museum of Ireland in Dublin.
The Aglish Pillar stone originates from Minard, the home town of Gregory Peck’s Grandmother Catherine Ashe.
The Artist
The Trophy is handcrafted by leading Irish local jeweller Brian de Staic on the shores of Dingle Bay.
The text on the stone is, Ogham script, an ancient Irish linear script which recorded the earliest Irish texts dating between the 3rd and 6th Century.
It is personalised and engraved ‘Gregory Peck’ in ancient script.
Many of Brian de Staic’s creations are based on Celtic Mythology. Others are inspired by the creativity of the artist. This award is a fine example of Brian’s artistic craftsmanship.
